Have you ever stayed at a Youth Hostel? As a family we never have (though hope to rectify that soon!) but I have stayed at one in Haworth on a hen weekend which was brilliant, and when we were travelling around New Zealand in 2002 Gary and I stayed at lots of their youth hostels which were amazing. The one at the Franz Josef Glacier had a sauna and the one in Rotura had its own outdoor hot spring pool! They were centrally located and  rooms clean and fresh with en suite facilities, just like a modern hotel but at a fraction of the price. We really liked the way we could book the next nights accommodation as we traveled, deciding as we went where to go next.

The YHA is the perfect answer for affordable accommodation all year round proving quality, no frills comfort in the countryside, coast or city.  Indeed, they must be doing something right as in April this year they are celebrating reaching the grand old age of 85 – wow!

To celebrate this they are running a Spot the Difference competition offering you 15 chances to win a prize during their birthday week (13-17 April 2015). Each day they will be giving away £100 worth of YHA vouchers plus two runners up prizes of your choice of YHA memberships. Perfect for planning a spring break or summer getaway!

All you have to do is find the four differences in the two pictures and enter your details.

Entry is open now and runs until the end of birthday week.

Fingers crossed and good luck

When I was younger I used the youth hostels all the time,it was a great way to meet people and so cheap. My friend Rosie and I did Spain through them and had a wonderful time. I always found them to,be clean and warm and friendly,
