Last weekend we went camping to Tattershall Lakes near Sleaford in Lincolnshire. The weather was glorious and the campsite an amazing £19.40 for two nights! The facilities were great and there was even an indoor pool, bar with food menu and arcades!
Here is our lovely tent!
There was also a man made beach at the side of one of the lakes which the boys had great fun on, building sandcastles and creating forts
There are lots of great walks in the area as well as a host of water sports to enjoy. The site is next to Tattershall Castle and close to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, there were planes flying across the skies doing a display when we were pitching the tent which the boys loved.
The boys did a raft building activity on the Sunday which cost just £3 each. The boys were put into a team with two older boys and they were against another team of five mixed boys and girls. They were told they had a set amount of money and each team had to bid for the wood, barrels and rope that they woudl then build the rafts with. The lovely ladies who ran the Entertainments team were very strict and every slight movement they took as a bid – with a twitchy 5 year old on the team they ended up overbidding and spent all their money quickly!
In the end this went in their favour as they had less equipment to go wrong and they managed to build a perfectly adequate raft with three barrell, three pieces of wood and lots of rope. They raced it from one side of the pool to the other (with the smallest team member also being the lightest and helping out here to sit on it!) and back and won the race! They also won the Quid-ditch game and taking the raft apart first too. Fun times!
