Now who doesn’t love a good Country Fair? We definitely do and we are really excited about the Chatsworth Country fair to be held on 4, 5 and 6 September, on the banks of the River Derwent, at the stunningly beautiful Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.
It promises to be a brilliant family day out with something to capture everyone’s imagination.
The Friday sees the lovely Katy Ashworth from TV’s Cbeebies “I Can Cook”, a TV programme which encourages children under six to get cooking, host her own silly and fun show in the AGA Rangemaster Cookery Theatre at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Children will also get the chance to meet Katy out and about, sign autographs and pose for photos. What a treat!
If your children are animal lovers, Animal Encounters are bringing along meerkats, foxes, owls as well as snakes and spiders for plenty of handling sessions throughout the day. There is also the opportunity to bring along the family dog for ‘Scruffs’ Family Fun Dog Show as well as Pony Club Mounted Games, the Essex Dog Display team, ferret racing and birds of prey!
My children will be especially interested in putting their skills to the test on the Low Ropes course, with its series of activity challenges to suit all ages and abilities. There are lots of chances for families to have fun together and learn a new skill too with expert tuition, from fishing on the River Derwent to Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting and Archery, or try their aim on the Crossbow and Air Rifle ranges.
As well as all of this is the old time fairground, with its classic rides from the Helter Skelter; Chair-O-Plane, Gallopers, Big Wheel and plenty more.
The day is rounded off with the fabulous Closing Ceremony. On the Sunday this is from the Red Arrows who I would love to see live!
Check out the website for tickets and more details of what else is happening (lots of treats for the adults too!) and who will be there including the fabulous Great British Bake Off’s Mary Berry and Masterchef’s John Torode to name just a few of the exciting attractions.
Gates open at 9am each day. The box office is now open for advance tickets. Advance tickets are available from £18 while children under 14 get in free (save 10% for booking online in advance). Parking is free.
Chatsworth House and Garden are open throughout (normal admission applies). The farmyard & adventure playground are closed during the fair.
I can offer one lucky reader a pair of tickets to the day of their choice (children under 14 are admitted free). Just fill in the Rafflecopter below telling me what you are most looking forward to seeing at the Chatsworth Country Fair (spoilt for choice!). The giveaway closes at midnight on Monday 24 August.
