Eating healthily and keeping active is vital for a child’s health and development and we are always on the look out for ways to wear out encourage fitness, stamina and healthy eating in our boys. There is nothing quite like getting the endorphin’s flowing to promote that feel good natural boost that help us enjoy and get the most out of life.

For the last 10 years, Sainsbury’s Active Kids have provided over £150 million of equipment so children can have a go at activities like dance cooking and martial arts. The 2015 campaign has been live since 28 January and runs until 5 May giving plenty of time to support this fantastic initiative where you can collect 1 voucher for every £10 (or £5 at a Sainsbury Local) you spend online or instore when you do your weekly shop or fill up the car with fuel.

This year the scheme is fronted by three inspirational ambassadors;

● Premier League footballing ace Daniel Sturridge

● Swimming legend Ellie Simmonds

● World record-breaking sprinter Jonnie Peacock

You can then donate your vouchers to primary and secondary schools but also since 2007 over 4000 Scout groups  have received £3.7 million worth of equipment and experiences, Girl Guiding groups have received over £3 million  and over 2000 Sports groups have also received equipment and experiences. I think I will be torn over who to donate our vouchers too – school or Scouts! You can find out here who is accepting the vouchers near you.

The range of  equipment and experiences to choose from is massive from vegetable peelers, cats cradle sets (from personal experience I know how popular these are at primary school!), crosswords sets to aid spelling,  how to create a caterpillar kit for understanding insect creation and boccia set through to cheerleading, netball posts, cricket bats and stacks more sports and activity equipment and experiences. Some of these items range from just a handful of vouchers to several thousand. What are you waiting for get collecting now!
