Now, I thought the fish would keep the boys quiet (from their asking for a pet) and be an easy and enjoyable pet to keep. Indeed they are now the tank has “settled down” they are really very pretty and relaxing to watch.

However, they seem to think the fish are a pre-cursor for another pet – namely a dog!

I can see what they mean as fish aren’t exactly cuddly and pretty much all they do is swim around.

When driving home from school as usual I get lots of questions, this one threw me a little

E: “Mummy can  a dog run as fast as a bike?”

Me: Well it does depend on how fast the bike is going and how fast the dog can run. Where are you thinking of?

E: “The hill down there..” *points to park area next to our house

Me: WYes I guess it could…W

E: “Oh good that’s ok then when I go for a ride on my bike I can take the dog for a walk…”

We haven’t said we are getting a dog but it just seems to be kind of assumed that will be the next step. Now, I would love a dog. It would be a great reason to get out in the fresh air more and with all the countryside around us I think a dog would be very happy here. So we will have to see what the New Year brings!

Now, whilst we continue to deliberate the responsibilities of dog ownership, Swell UK are offering a £50 credit so you can treat your pets this Christmas! You can use the credit across any of their sites for pet, aquatic of reptile needs.

All you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter and tell me  “What is your favourite pet, fish or reptile” if you have one or which pet you would like if you haven’t already got one. There are a few extra ways you can get additional entries too if you want to increase your chance of winning.

I love cats. They are easier to look after tan dogs as they don’t need walking. However, like dogs they are a long tern commitment. My last moggy was 21 when she passed away and I still miss her lots. I have 2 kittens (well 2 years old now) and an old 17 year old mog that was going to be put down.

The kittens are currently doing their best to destroy the Christmas tree. Both want to be the fair on top and the tree will fall over before long. Good job I love them.

If you have to get somethin bigger than fish or hamsters remember the rescue centres where there are lots of cats and dogs that need a good home. Cats Protection or Dogs Trust will help you find a local rescue centre.

They are amazing and beautiful.
