I am hugely excited about summer this year. The boys are at such a cool age and they are masses of fun. They are silly, very, very silly but also have some lovely thoughtful moments.

We have decided to have a bit of a stay cation year (not sure if that makes us behind or ahead of the times!) and focus on UK activities probably involving the tent. Fingers crossed for nice dry weather!

I can’t pretend we are family festival experts but we did have a brilliant weekend at Harvest at Jimmys in 2011 when the boys were 4 and 2. We love camping, live acts, yummy food and the outdoors so family festivals do seem to fit the bill perfectly!

Last year, we didn’t make it to a family festival but after reading all the fun and frolics that happened at last years Camp Bestival which this year, takes place in the grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset from 31 July to 3 August, this looks unmissable. I love Penny’s from The Alexander Residence’s post here from last year.

The line up for children could have been tailor made for us at Camp Bestival with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, pop up Roahl Dahl musuem, medieval jousting, Horrible Histories, Hugless Douglas and Cowboy Max to name just a few of the many going on over the weekend. The live acts look fabulous too and this is just part of other theatre, comedy, poetry, food and stack of other attractions.

We love a good family festival! Prefer the smaller more intimate ones though, probably because the boys are still quite little. Then again it’s been ages since bestival so maybe we should give it another go 🙂
