We have just returned from a couple of nights away, sans children, at this gorgeous hotel. We had received the stay as a Christmas present and as Gary has been working so so hard recently it was a welcome break to recharge fading batteries.
The Luton Hoo is a stately home which was converted to a hotel in 2007. The mansion had been in the hands of various aristocrats since been built in 1767 and is full of history and character. It has been used for many film locations such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Wilde and a couple of Bond films as well as many others.
We kicked off our two night stay with afternoon tea which was a fantastic experience and very delicious.
The hotel also has a great spa, which is located in what looks like the former stables a couple of minutes walk from the main hotel. There are black cabs to run you to and from the spa (and in fact anywhere around the estate!) which is quite good fun!
We spent much of our first full day relaxing by the pool and generally unwinding which was bliss. We couldn’t get booked in for a treatments until our last day. I had a full body hot stone massage which was divine – it just felt like all the tensions in my muscles had been melted away.
Generally though it was great just to stop for a moment and look at where we are, set some goals and plan for the future (holidays mainly!). I think everyone needs this every now and again.
Thank you mum and dad for diving in and looking after the boys. They had a fabulous time too!
