Christmas is, of course, the most magical time of year. This is especially true when you have a home of children who embrace the enchantment with vigour and enthusiasm!
One of our favourite traditions is a visit to the theatre and Lakeside Arts, on the University of Nottingham campus, never disappoint so we were thrilled to watch their latest musical production “Neverland” on its opening night.
Suitable for children aged 4 and above “Neverland” is a wonderfully gritty interpretation on the Peter Pan fairytale set in present day London where Wendy is visiting her estranged dad.
Enter Peter and you are transported, with the three bewitching performers over the city skies to Neverland. Here the everyday has hidden meanings as Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys are introduced, and of course the formidable Captain Hook!
The awesome special effects transform a simple set into a magical experience with clever use of shadows and the latest technical wizardry.
The boys, at 6 and 8 years, were transfixed with wonder for the whole of the hour long performance, particularly enjoying the audience participation to bring Tinkerbell back to life and save the day.
Afterwards they had a brilliant time in the Wallner gallery letting their imaginations run wild with some interesting costumes!
The perfect antidote to the traditional Christmas Panto, Neverland is magical, funny and intriguing show – a wonderful family Christmas treat!
Tickets are on sale at £8.50 with shows running until 31 December 2015. Don’t miss out!
