Cannon Hall Farm is a fantastic working farm, family owned and run near Barnsley. It is also a great place for meeting up with family and friends who live nearby! It was fairly quiet on the day we went, probably because Nottinghamshire was one of the few counties on half term last week. During main school holidays there are lots of activities going on such as sheep racing. This week there are lots of halloween themed treats such as pumpkin carving.
There were beef cattle, lots of different varieties pigs and piglets, sheep, highland cows, goats, llamas, lots of varieties chickens and birds, rabbits and guinea pigs to name a few. Rather than selling feed the farm have regular “feeding times” though-out the day when children can help out. The boys loved feeding the cows!
As well as the animals there are three fab play areas full of climbing equipment and slides. These were very well received to let off some steam. The kids also enjoyed milking the pretend cows!
There is also a great tea room serving delicious lunches, hot drinks and snacks and a farm shop full of fresh and frozen products. The loos were all lovely and clean too.
I liked the way once you have paid your admission price there isn’t loads of pressure to buy more things ie you don’t HAVE to exit via the gift shop!
We had lots of fun and look forward to going back again soon!
