Located in South Cave, on the way to Hull, is the recently opened Willian’s Den, a brilliant outdoor and indoor play adventure area perfect for the 2-12 year olds (and older!).
To start with there is a huge car park – always handy! Then there is the setting! William’s Den is set in farmlands and has gorgeous views over fields of sheep and crops so you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
Safety is really important and wristbands are given to all children with their adult’s phone number written on when they arrive just in case they wander away and lose their adult. The complex is sealed in so there is no chance of a child wandering off and it is very safe for children to go and explore. There are rules of play around the area to ensure that everyone stays safe.
Sustainability is also at the heart of William’s den with loos that use rainwater to flush and locally sourced products.
The concept behind William’s Den is enjoying the great outdoors and the owners have created the perfect space for children to run free and enjoy themselves.
The outdoor area is provides a range of options for children. “Mountains and molehills” consists of small hills to roll down, beans to balance on and tunnels to crawl through. There are huge swings for a group of children to climb into or individual tyre swings to sail through the air on as well as lots of climbing frames to enjoy no matter what your size. There were plenty of dads having a go so age is no restriction!
Also there is a large sandpit with a water area to cool off on a hot day or just play in and a zip wire for the thrill seekers.
There are also ots of large wooden benches for taking a rest and canopies to provide shelter on a sunny day.
Wood fired pizza are the main speciality in the restaurant but also provided is delicious salad, pasta and sandwiches. If you choose an adult main course you can also select two side dishes which is great value.
Home made icecream, cakes and drinks are also available for afterwards – yum yum!
As well as the massive ourdoor play area is an indoor play barn. Younger children are able to join in the fun here with help from an adult.
Williams Den are working with schools and community groups and have lots of information linking learning to the curriculum for KS1 and 2.
Personally we loved the mud kitchen!
The team have lots of exciting new ideas planned and we can’t wait to see what is going to happen in future.
William’s Den is the perfect place to meet up with family and friends. I did wonder if my children, aged 8 and 10, would get much out of it as they are at the older age range but they absolutely loved and it and we will definitely be back to meet up with friends here for a game of hide and seek, climbing and yummy food!
Wiliams’s Den is open all year apart from Christmas and Boxing Day.
See you there!
