My favourite way to spend a Friday night has changed slightly over the years! Now I love nothing more than curling up in front of the TV and watching a film. Recently we have watched a few new releases as we are members of BAFTA.
My favourite film was Room which is based on the book by Emma Donoghue which I read a while ago. It is about a girl who is kidnapped at 19 and kept prisoner by a man who abuses her over the years. She has a little boy who has never known anywhere but The Room and is brought up thinking that is all there is to life. When he gets to around 5 or 6 she uses him to try to escape. It is SO good!
We have also watched The Suffragettes, which is very good and quite shocking to think how different life was just 100 years ago to how it is now. Others include Brooklyn (fab film about an Irish girl who escapes her small Irish town to marry an Italian and live in New York), Joy (based on Joy Mangano who invented the Miracle Mop) and Woman with Van (about a lady who lived in a van outside Alan Bennet’s Camden home). There were also a few that, at least for me, were damp squibs including the acclaimed Carol.
We were invited to put together a Movie Night hamper by Wayfair UK. It must definitely include a snugly blanket to get cosy underneath and some warm slippers. If there was room I think I would have to add pjs to that too!
Then of course the all important snacks and treats! Popcorn is essential and I think it has to be a mixture of sweet and salted as you just never know what you will fancy! Chocolate too has to be an all important ingredient of Friday night! I am also addicted to Penn State sour cream and chive Pretzels though they are far too moreish!
Check out the popcorn maker – how amazing is this!?
As far as drinks are concerned Ikea do some delicious “hot berry juice” as we call it which is Loganberry cordial made with hot water. It is divine and is also the same drink that the elves gave us when we were in Lapland, so it instantly makes you feel relaxed and warmed!
Wayfair have some great printable labels to personalise DIY Hampers such as Pamper Hamper, Road Trip, Mother’s Day or Valentine’s so you can create a hamper full of treats for a special someone to make them smile.
So what would you put in your Movie Night hamper? Or perhaps you would like to create one of the other hampers as a treat for someone else? Would love to hear!
