It is Father’s day.
My husband’s perfect father’s day starts off with a very long lie in. He has been working very hard and is shattered. So I take the boys out to give him some peace. Should father’s have a day off from the kids on their day? Hmmm.
The boys had gathered some branches from trees that had been cut down next to our house a while ago and they had made a makeshift den in the corner of our garden. They love to climb this tree and play around it but it really needed finishing off and some TLC.
This may also be a great way to spend Father’s day bonding! Woohoo!
I gave them some tips from our recent den building course..
Some branches were very long (beanstalks as Noah called them) so needed sawing in half.
Safety is very important when building a den so we used protective equipment and never left the children unattended!
We laid strong branches across the tree in two places to secure a base then slatted logs across the top to make a roof.
Using the longer branches we formed the sides. Then covered the top with some tarpaulin and more sticks to secure it.
Now we have an all weather den for the garden. The boys love to dig so this little area will be perfect for them to do this, or just hang out in their Summer hideout!
Happy days! Linking up with Country Kids.
