We have just got to that time of year when Christmas really doesn’t feel that far away. You just know that before you can say “tinsel” the shops will be heaving with cards, lights and all manner of festival gift packs (actually I think some already are!) I always do try to be organised for Christmas but there are always some last minute changes and present buying and delivering going on.
Coombe Mill is a small farm located near Bodmin in Cornwall, with Scandanavian lodges and cottages to rent, play areas for the kids with tributaries for the River Camel running through it. We have visited the delightful Coombe Mill on our last holiday to Cornwall but not actually stayed (as yet!).
This year they are offering one lucky family the chance to win a week long stay in one of their lodges or cottages for six people. If we won the chance to stay at Coombe Mill at Christmas it would be a dream come true!
We love Christmas as a time to relax and chill out and unwind from our busy lives. It is also a brilliant time to get together with friends and family. Most years our Christmas is spent travelling up and down the motorway visiting family who all live at least 50 miles away. I will never forget our first Christmas day with our firstborn driving to my mum and dad’s house when there was holdups on the M1 for hours and I had to breastfeed a two week old in the back of the car – haha! I love the idea of us all decamping to Coombe Mill and spending Christmas together.
This year has been a busy one as I have returned to the work place as a teacher, after studying a PGCE for the previous 18 months. This career change experience has all been good in lots of ways but it has also been stressful, tiring and going back to being the “rookie” again has had its challenges.
The boys would love to get involved with the daily farm life, as they have already been Farmer’s for the Day! They also love to spend quality time with their beloved cousins, who live around an hours drive away. This summer has been good as we have managed to meet up with them quite few times. Wouldn’t we all have fun together on the farm enjoying the fresh Cornish air, meeting the animals, spending time together and eating lots of delicious food all in such cosy, luxurious surroundings!?
Christmas at Coombe Mill to me is all about being away from it all and creating a hassle free enjoyable family get together. We are always round at someone else’s house, which is lovely but obviously requires effort on the part of the host or hostess. To be away from it all with everything we need to hand and the children happy and content will help everyone to relax and enjoy this special time of year having fun together.
The idea of escaping from all the hustle and bustle sounds like blisss. The rest of the family would have to book their own accommodation at Coombe Mill or somewhere nearby so we can all be together. A change of scenery is definitely in order and in such a magical location! Wow – the stuff of dreams!
Here is our Pinterest board of what I think it would all be about…
And our video saying why we would love to spend Christmas at Coombe Mill..
I am so excited about Christmas this year and have a feeling it is going to be our best yet. Fingers crossed we spend it at Coombe Mill!
