Did you know that Morrisons have recently announced permanent price cuts of around 17% on over 1200 of the products we buy every week?

We were invited to try out the new “I’m cheaper” range and feedback on our thoughts.

Our nearest Morrisons store is around a five mile drive and not the nearest supermarket to us, though I do sometimes make the effort to go as I love their fresh salad bar, range of fresh fish, delicious bakery and the Nutmeg kids clothes are great value and quality. It is (or at least was!) a little run down and tatty around the edges).

So, when I stepped into the store on an early Saturday morning I was pleasantly surprised to see a transformation had taken place! The fresh fruit and veg is now on cold plates to keep it fresh and everything looks clean and new. This could have taken place ages ago as I haven’t visited for a while!

We were instructed to buy as we normally would for a bank holiday and as the weather forecast was for “big sun” and family were visiting for Noah’s birthday we decided to do a BBQ.

It was good to see plenty of organic and fairtrade products on sale. I was also pleasantly surprised to see more unusual products such as yellow courgettes and plaintain. There was stacks of choice and everything looks fresh and delicious!

A favourite BBQ dish for us is to make our own Morrocan cous cous served with minted lamb kebabs, chicken, sausage or halloumi aka squeaky cheese! Divine!

We bought the BBQ meat all on the 3 for £10 offer which was a great deal.

Here is our recipe for delicious Moroccan Cous Cous …

and here is how the numbers stacked up for this cheap and cheerful and very delicious essential BBQ accompaniment.

I was impressed with the quality and choice at Morrisons. The prices look like impressive cuts on everyday essentials though I can see with the range of products on offer I would probably buy twice as much!

It is fantastic that shoppers are offered product diversity though and I will definitely be heading back to Morrisons more often. I have already tried out their online service (which uses Ocado delivery vans and drivers) and was pretty impressed with the service.

Hope you had a great Bank Holiday weekend – what did you get up to?

Disclosure: We received £80 of Morrisons vouchers in exchange for writing this post but all views and opinions are our own unbiased.
