Andy Day is well known and loved in our house for his energy and enthusiasm on Cbeebies “Andy’s Wild Adventure” so we were delighted to be invited along to Chesterfield’s beautiful Pomegranate Theatre to review his latest stage show “Andy and Mike’s Tick Tock Time Machine”.
Andy is joined by his pal and comedy partner, Mike James for this fantastic production which has children (and adults!) fascinated from the very offset. There is a real chemistry between the two performers and they both work exceptionally well to bring a fantastic show together.
The story sees Andy and Mike jump through time from Ancient Egypt, the Wild West and Medieval England to the Future in an action packed, non stop laughs show.
There is lots of audience participation, with unsuspecting parents and willing children involved in the fun story-line. Children love to see grown ups being silly so this is the perfect way to make them laugh. There were also lots of jokes meant just for the adults including “Back to the Future” references (hubbie had to explain these to me!) and lots more. So it really is a treat for all the family.
As well as being lots of fun, seeing the characters “shrink” down to doll size and travel through time in a toilet, the show is also educational, teaching young children about periods of history they may have little or no comprehension of.
As such the team hope to get Andy and Mike’s Tick Tock Time Machine on TV which in my opinion would translate really well and be a fantastic show. You can follow their Facebook page here.
Over to the little reviewers for an insight into their favourite bit…
The show runs for around 1 hour 30 minutes with a 20 minute interval which is just about right for the 3+ age group. It is on its UK tour throughout the Autumn 2013 details of which can be found here. Don’t miss it!
Disclosure: We were given a complimentary family ticket for the show but all opinions expressed in this review are our own, unbiased views.
